Reviews Stage 1 Performance Chip Module Obd2 for Pontiac
So from my last post about my 2013 Dodge Dart I talked about the express adequacy to get more performance out the mill ECU due to manufacturer constraints on modifications. Unfortunately in that location are no companies creating handheld performance tuners or desktop flashing software that will do the same either. And then for the many individuals with normal aspirated two.0/2.iv Tigershark engines, the search for engine performance volition proceed.
However with a lot of online research, YouTube videos, and forum feedback, OBD chip tunes look similar an culling to this crisis. There is a lot of skepticism every bit to "so called" chip tunes and what they actually practise. They usually come up in the form of a resister that is wired into the MAF sensor in the intake arrangement right before the throttle body. Something has changed though. At that place is a new school mode to introduce a universal chip tune to the ECU through the OBD Two port inside the car. Could this actually work? Equally a skeptic myself I am budget modder looking for the cheapest way to add functioning to a car that is really limited practice calculator governance.
The Defendant
One such chip tuner that has had an evolution from the MAF sensor splice to a plug-n-play OBD module is the GTE Stage ane Performance Fleck. In that location are few online sources to purchase this chip tuner but primarily can exist found on ebay....yes on good ole' ebay. The performance chip boasts and claims many dissimilar benefits such as:
- Faster Dispatch / 0-60 Times
- Up to 4 mpg increment
- Up to 35+ Horsepower increase
- l% Amend throttle response
- Like shooting fish in a barrel to install
- Up to thirty% added torque
- Reduced emissions with 91+ Gas
- Better one/four mile times
- Prolongs engine life
- Fabricated in the USA
- Smoother idle
- Saves you coin!
- Ameliorate towing power & improved passing ability
For anyone these claims would a godsend especially for a vehicle that is express. Since at that place are no substantiated tests, the only to evidence if these claims work are to purchase and test the chip tuner unit for myself. I purchased the unit for simply $99 from an ebay seller that required the vehicle information such as brand, model, and engine type to ensure the specs on the operation tuner were right earlier existence sent. At that place is a fiddling reassurance there that it could be vehicle specific.
It took only three days to receive which was very fast and very easy to install with directions that easily illustrate that it plugs right into the OBD II port and is fix to go. The directions state it could have up to two weeks before seeing results because of the learning procedure. As you tin can see in the following flick the internals of the performance bit are merely not a resister with LEDs but an really memory chip with the stored data. I installed the performance chip that aforementioned twenty-four hours.
The Facts
Well it is now a little over two weeks of having the operation chip tuner installed. Hither is my feedback:
- Acceleration has improved in low/mid/high RPM range
- Approximately 2 MPG increase (25.4 MPG to 27.ii Combined Urban center/Highway)
- Increased HP & Torque (125 WHP to 131 WHP/112 FT LBS to 119 FT LBS)
- Smoother idle
- Smoother shifting between gear
Many of the skeptics take said it is the placebo bear on but from personal accounts information technology is a nighttime and mean solar day difference. To brand sure it was not after 2 weeks I pulled the performance chip tuner and drove information technology for a couple of days to meet that all of above affects faded after the beginning day. To this avail it fabricated me a believer that this inexpensive, cheap performance fleck tuner actually works. To substantiate my claim even further, I purchased an OBD 2 splitter so I could monitor the affects of the performance bit prior to install and during using a well-known Android application chosen DashCommand which shows many fields of feedback from the ECU via Bluetooth. The increases may be minor but to me they promise functioning on a budget and for me that is all I needed which was a six WHP and vii FT LBS increase. This is on premium 91 octane gasoline that I have ever put in my car since new so this was not the reason for the increase.
Now these claims usually take identify usually on a traditional dyno-meter but unfortunately I do not have the funds to test my findings. These are only my personal results and they do very with different makes, models, and many other variables. Living in Arizona the tests were conducted during the hottest part of the year around 110 degrees.
The Verdict
Personally the GTE Stage 1 Performance Flake tuner works. This was not a placebo affect. My results although slight validate that the operation bit works and is legit. I accept had no issues with either the chip itself or my vehicle. Again this is personal feedback nearly chip tuners and the affects it had for me. Until they make a hand-held performance tuner for my specific brand, model, and engine configuration I will be limited to finding operation where I can, especially on a upkeep.
